In the last couple of years, you’ve probably seen on Facebook or even via email about #GivingTuesday.  What is it about? #GivingTuesday is a beautiful global initiative fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, created to encourage everyone to give back to a cause you feel passionate about.  This year is no exception; on Tuesday, November 28th we will celebrate #GivingTuesday in the U.S.

More than ever, AFOP Health & Safety needs your support.  With budget cuts in every corner, we want to ensure that we continue empowering the farmworker community through critical farm health and safety education, resources and advocacy.

If farmworkers’ health and safety is compromised, who will pick the food that sustains us?

For over 15 years, AFOP Health & Safety Programs have been helping the farmworker community by providing these valuable services.  We want to continue, and to expand to even more agricultural communities who need support.

Since 2013, we have implemented the National Farmworker Training Program to provide various health and safety training programs to farmworker families.  Since then, our network of trainers has been educating over 45,000 farmworkers on a yearly basis in multiple topics across safety and health.  Our trainings are in a low-literacy and interactive format that range topics from pesticide safety, heat stress prevention, tractor safety, and more.

Here is our latest 5-year training impact:

With your contribution, we will be able to reach more farmworker communities in the US.  So, don’t spend all your pennies on Black Friday and Cyber Monday: save a few for #GivingTuesday and support our contribution to the farmworker community.  No amount is too small!

We are all part of the food system.  We all purchase the goods for which millions of workers put in long hours of hard labor.  Help give them the gift of security and health.
